Fund and submit your order. Once you know which investment you want and how much to invest, put money into the account. To make the trade, you will need the ticker symbol for the stock or mutual fund you want to buy, the amount you would like to invest and the price you would like to pay for the stock. You can fund your account with a credit card, over the phone or by check if the first two options aren't available. Other funding options are available depending on the broker.
