Rinse the eyes with plenty of water. This should be done with fresh water and should last for 30 minutes before bring the child to the ER. It may be necessary to hold open the eyelids while flushing the eyes with water. Remember to do this nonstop for 30 minutes to make sure all of the chemical in their eyes is rinsed away.

If another person is available while you are rinsing the chemicals out of the eyes, have that person look at the bottle of chemical and find the number to the poison control center. The people at the poison control center can give you extra information on how the specific chemical may be treated.

After 30 minutes of rinsing the eyes out with water, head to the ER. Make sure to bring the bottle of chemicals with you to the ER so the hospital staff knows exactly what they are dealing with. Also let them know any relevant information that you may have collected while talking to the poison control center.

Tips & Warnings
Do not try to "neutralize" the chemical at home, just rinse the eyes with fresh water and lots of it.
