Non toxic cleaning products or organic cleaning products are growing in popularity. Safe cleaning products, such as organic cleaning products or non toxic cleaner, are important for everyone. Studies have shown we breath in more chemicals in our homes then outside. However, organic cleaning using non toxic cleaning products is even more important for people with children or pets.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Decide what organic cleaning products you want to make. You can make an all purpose non toxic cleaner, or specific non toxic cleaner that serves a certain purpose (like washing your tub or cleaning out your oven). If you want to practice true organic cleaning, all of your cleaning products should be non toxic cleaning products.

  2. Step 2

Prepare your ingredients. Organic cleaning products can be made with a few simple ingredients: baking soda, vinegar, Dish soap, and optional essential oils. These simple items you have around the house are the key to making safe cleaning products and developing an organic cleaning program focused around these non toxic cleaning products.

  3. Step 3

Create an all purpose non toxic cleaner. This involves using 1 part vinegar, 1 part water and 2 squirts of dish liquid. This all purpose non toxic cleaner can be one of your fundamental organic cleaning products. Place the mixture in a squirt bottle and use it to clean any surface.

  4. Step 4

Create a glass cleaner for your organic cleaning plan. Glass cleaner is one of the simplest organic cleaning products. Simply use rubbing alcohol on glass, and wipe with newspaper. This creates a streak free clean and is one of the easiest safe cleaning products to make yourself.

  5. Step 5

Create an oven/tub and tile non toxic cleaner. This is another simple non toxic cleaner to add to your arsenal of safe cleaning products. Simple mix one part baking soda with one part salt. Slowly add vinegar, making sure it doesn't bubble over. This forms a paste which can be applied to any surface including your oven or your tub and tiles. This is another of the safe cleaning products you can use every day in many different situations as part of your organic cleaning plan.

Tips & Warnings
  • When creating your non toxic cleaning products, you can add essential oil to your non toxic cleaner. You can add a scent that you like the smell of, like lavender. You can also add peppermint oil, which has the benefit of repelling mice. This turns your non toxic cleaning products into non toxic pest repellents as well.
  • Safe cleaning products work as well as other cleaning products which are not non toxic cleaning products. However, you may need to change the way you think about cleaning when switching to organic cleaning.
