Have you gotten tired of dragging your water hose out to water your yard or garden just to find out that there is a leak in your water hose? You do not have to go about and buy a new hose. You can spend a couple of dollars and fix the leaky water hose yourself just like a professional.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Quick connect clamp style water hose clamps.
  • Utility knife.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Black electrical tape.
  1. Step 1

    Fixing a Leaking Water Hose.

The first step is to go to your local hardware store and pick up a roll of black electrical tape and a clamp style quick connect water hose clamp kit. Usually just a couple of bucks.

  2. Step 2

Next, stretch out the water hose and make sure that the area that is leaking is wiped dry.

  3. Step 3

Next, take your utility knife and cut out the damaged area of the leaking water hose. Cut back at least one inch on both sides of the damaged area.

  4. Step 4

Next, take the black electrical tape and tape both ends of the cut water hose. This is so that the new clamp style quick connect water hose clamp will seal better to both sides of the water hose.

  5. Step 5

Next, take the coupling that comes with the quick connect kit and put it in the inside of both sides of the water hose. The coupling is what the water will run through.

  6. Step 6

Next, once your coupling is in, install the quick connect clamps to both sides of the water hose on top of the black tape and with your screwdriver tighten very tight until you see the clamp start to crease the water hose.

  7. Step 7

Lastly, turn your water hose back on and check for leaks. If the hose is still leaking a little bit, try tightening the clamps a little bit tighter until the leak has stopped. The quick connect clamps will last for years.

Tips & Warnings
  • The black tape acts as a gasket or a seal for the quick connect clamp to seat better to the water hose when being tightened.
