How to Check Food Stamp Balance Online

Food stamps, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP) as it is now called, is a government program that helps low-income families buy the food they need for good health. Benefits are provided using an ATM-like card that is accepted at most groceries. A convenient feature of this program is that balances can be checked online.

Things You'll Need

• SNAP benefits card

Instructions

1. Go to the online EBT SNAP Accounts page and see if your state allows online access to your account (see Resources).

2. Click on the account address located next to the state in which you live; you will be directed to new page where you can access your EBT account.

3. Click the "Click here to register" link, and click "I accept" after reading the terms and conditions. Follow the guided prompts to create an EBT account.

4. Log into your account.

5. Click "Account Summary" to see your food stamp balance. If you want to check the usage and the stores where you've used the card, click "Account Activity."

6. Click "Log Out" when you are finished.
