How to Decorate Sugar Cubes
Decorated sugar cubes look so impressive that they appear to be made by a master cake decorator, but they're surprisingly easy to make. To produce these ultra-sweet treats, give each individual sugar cube its own delicate embellishment. Specially decorated sugar cubes will make any occasion special, so use your imagination and create some tiny gingerbread men, candy canes, reindeer, wedding bells, baby bottles, golf clubs, shamrocks, hearts or flowers. Things You'll Need
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 lb. powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- Food coloring
- Pastry bag with fine tip
- Sugar cubes
- Waxed paper

Mix a bowl of icing to decorate the sugar cubes. In a small mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup of water with 1 lb. of powdered sugar.

Stir in 1/4 tsp. of almond extract and a few drops of the food coloring of your choice. If you plan to use more than one color, divide the icing and color each small batch separately.

Fill a pastry bag with the icing and attach a small tip. Hold the bag in one hand, steady it with the other hand and squeeze until the icing begins to come out of the tip.

Arrange the sugar cubes on a piece of waxed paper. Decorate each sugar cube and let it sit until the icing is firm.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't own a pastry bag, you can still make decorated sugar cubes. Fill a resealable bag with icing and seal it firmly. Snip one corner with scissors and squeeze the icing through the corner. Work on your skills by making a few practice decorations on a piece of waxed paper before you begin.
