Things You'll Need:
- Silk fabric (two 8-inch by 8-inch squares)
- Poly fiber (stuffing)
- Needle and thread
- Ruler
- Pins
- Sewing scissors
- Two large buttons (at least 1-inch diameter with at least two holes)
- Ribbon (1/2-inch thick; at least 12 inches long)
- Optional: Lace fabric (two 10-inch by 10-inch squares), sewing machine, decorations
-
Step 1
Stack the two silk squares and make sure they are aligned. If desired, arrange the silk squares so the inside of the bottom square is facing down and the inside of the top square is facing up.
-
Step 2
Measure a 2-inch border around the silk squares. Pin the two squares together along that border.
-
Step 3
Securely and evenly sew three sides of the squares together along the pinned border; remove the pins after each side is sewn. Sew 6 inches of the fourth pinned side and remove the pins on this side.
-
Step 4
Carefully reach into the opening and gently pull the opposite side of the pillow out so the fabric is right side out.
-
Step 5
Carefully fill the pillow case with poly fiber stuffing to the desired plumpness. Tuck the open end inside the pillow and sew closed. If desired, cover your pillow with lace and sew a border around the lace to enclose the pillow. Other decorations, such as sequins, also could be added.
-
Step 6
Center a button on the top and bottom of your pillow. Insert a threaded needle through the hole in the bottom button, through the stuffing and through the hole in the top button; continue securing the two buttons together to create a depression in the pillow.
-
Step 7
Place the center of your ribbon to the top button. Affix the ribbon by inserting the threaded needle through the top and bottom buttons and through the ribbon before securing with a knot.
-
Step 8
Insert the bride's and groom's rings through each side of the ribbon and tie a decorative bow to secure them to the pillow.
