How to Delete Java Updates

Java is a software platform developed by Sun Microsystems that allows you to run a variety of web and desktop applications. Some examples include online games, such as Yahoo! games, or various calculators. Java updates are regularly released and can be automatically downloaded on your computer. Sometimes, such updates either slow down your system or change your experience with games or other applications. Java updates can be deleted (uninstalled) using the Windows Control Panel.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the administrator account in Windows Vista and click "Start" in the lower-left corner.

    • 2

Click "Control Panel" and then click "Uninstall a program" under "Programs."

    • 3

Scroll down the program list and find Java updates installed, for example,
      "Java(TM) 6 Update 7."

    • 4

Click on the Java update and select "Uninstall." Click "Yes" to confirm.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the other installed Java updates.
