Being a respected manager and being a good leader are two different things. However, being a good leader can help you become a successful manager.

2. Don't be afraid to delegate. Delegation will help you become a better manager through your employees. By giving your employees meaningful tasks you show them that you have confidence in their abilities. You can always check up on their work later and correct errors if need be.

3. Accountability is also a key to becoming a better manager. You will need to hold people accountable for their actions, both positively and negatively.

4. Remember to recognize your employees. You will get better production out of your employees if they have received prior recognition for doing a good job.

5. Make sure that you are detail oriented. If you are leaving out important details to special assignments, and even everyday tasks, you will lose credibility.

6. Take a time management course. This will help you be more productive yourself. You will be better able to assist your employees with more time available.
