Things You'll Need:
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 2 cans (13oz.) evaporated milk
- 6 tbls. water
- 2 tps. vanilla
- 6 eggs

Step 1
Combine 1.2 cup of sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Make sure you stir constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved. Continue cooking until syrup turns golden brown.

Pour the mixture into 8-cup ring molds. Quickly turn and tip the molds to coat the bottom and sides.

Beat eggs slightly in bowl, then stir in remaining 3/4 cups of sugar, evaporated milk and vanilla.

Strain the mixture into prepared mold. Set mold in baking pan on oven shelf, then pour boiling water in pan to depth of approximately 1 inch. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until the custard has set.

Remove the custard at once from the pan of water once baking is completed. Let cool, then chill for 3 hours.

When ready to serve, loosen the custard around the edges of the mold and center ring with a knife. Cover with serving plate and turn upside down. Let it stand several minutes until the syrup begins to run down.

To serve a larger crowd just double the recipe.
