How to Convert MP3 to a Windows Media File

MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3) and WMA (Windows Media Audio) are two common audio formats. Both MP3 and WMA files are supported by most computer and portable media players. Using any number of freeware audio conversion programs, you can convert MP3 to WMA format. The quality loss will be minimal and hardly noticeable.

Instructions

  1. WM Converter

    • 1

      Download and install WM Converter (see Resources section). When prompted, place a check next to "Launch WM Converter" and click "Finish." The program will launch.

      Drag and drop the MP3 files that you want to convert into the center window of the program, or click the "Add Files" button to select the files you want to convert.

      Click the "WMA/Zune" button next to the "Convert To" section. Place a check next to the "Audio" option. Click "Output Folder." Select where you want converted files to be placed.

      Click the "Start Conversion" button.

    Switch Sound File Converter

      Download and install Switch Sound File Converter (see Resources section). When prompted, place a check next to "Launch Switch Sound File Converter" and click "Finish." The program will launch.

      Drag and drop the MP3 files you want to convert into the center window of the program.

      Click the pull-down box next to "Output Format." Select "WMA."

      Click "Convert" to begin the conversion. Click "Output Folder" to access your converted files.
