Remember your suits. The great thing about the business suit is that by its very nature, it is slimming. Matching tops and bottoms in dark colors are slimming. Just because the work environment is "business casual" doesn't mean your suits need to be left in the closet. Dress them down with bright blouses or cashmere sweaters. Choose shoes with lower heels for a more casual look.

Use longer tops. It's all about proportion, but generally speaking longer tops over narrow skirts or trousers will be a slimming look that is also business casual. Remember that longer is not bigger. Oversized tops in heavy yarns add bulk to your figure.

Emphasize business part of casual. The idea at work is to fit in. If you are unsure of what to wear, certainly the HR department or your co-workers should be able to advise you. If you are going to make a mistake, too dressy is the way to go, not too casual. Choose tailored clothes to look thinner. Because casual clothes are less restrictive, they often will make you look larger.

Leave jeans at home. Sure many companies allow jeans on "casual" Fridays. But, if you are not particularly slim, the way to look slimmer is to wear dark tailored pants, not jeans. The casual part of the look can be defined by your top and accessories.
