Step 1
Drink water. This a simple tip that many people forget. The FDA recommends at least 8 full glasses of water a day but when you are dieting, you should drink even more. Water helps your body digest foods properly and also helps to clean out your system.
-
Step 2
Do something active at least three times per week. Enlist your friends to be walking buddies or join an aerobics class together. Do anything that will keep you moving!
-
Step 3
Keep away from canned vegetables. If you're not able to buy fresh then it's important to buy frozen vegetables. Canned vegetables are much higher in sodium which makes frozen vegetables a great choice!
-
Step 4
Keep healthy snacks available at all times. You will be more likely to grab something low-calorie and good for you if it's easy to eat. A bowl of fruit on your kitchen counter or cut up vegetables in the refrigerator are simple ways to have a quick snack ready.
-
Step 5
Buy a vegetable steamer. Steaming is an extremely easy way to cook vegetables. The food retains nearly all of its natural nutrients this way and the vegetables taste great!
-
Step 6
If you enjoy eating out, there is no reason why you shouldn't even if you are dieting. Restaurant portions are generally huge, so ask to have half of it boxed before you even start eating. If it's possible, order from the children's menu where you will automatically get a smaller sized portion.
Stay away from all-you-can-eat buffets. The food is usually fatty and of low quality, so it's not a good idea to begin with. -
Step 7
Take the stairs instead of the elevator whenever you have the option. Park your car in a parking spot that isn't close to the door when you go to a store. Take a walk after dinner, even if it just around the block.
-
Step 8
Small changes in your daily diet, like opting for water instead of soda, will give you results without the stress of following a strict diet plan.
