You know that annoying brain freeze. You stare at a piece of paper or a computer screen, and there is nothing... just a white scene in your head. If you're struggling with writer's block, here are tips to get rid of your frustration.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Motivation to write
  • Brainstorming
  • Please read article
  1. Step 1

Exercise Regularly >> Doing exercise not only is good for your physical health, but you'll also have time clearing your mind while you are at it. Believe it or not, many "a-ha" moments come when you are doing exercise.

  2. Step 2

Eat Healthy Foods >> Stuffing yourself with junk food just to feel full will only make your body work harder to remove unnecessary toxins/food additives. You need energy for your brain to focus on whatever that is you are doing and for general well being. Do not spending energy on digesting and removing harmful chemicals in your body. You will notice a gain in energy level a few weeks after you start eating good and health foods.

  3. Step 3

Get Enough Rest >> Sleep is important in getting your brain to function at its best. Take a nap if you are feeling drowsy in the afternoon. Using caffeine to boost alertness is just temporary. Also, watch your alcohol intake. Lack of sleep and rest makes brain difficult to think clearly and accomplish simple task.

  4. Step 4

Listen and Talk to People >> You'll be surprised the little information you can get that you didn't know just by having small talks with people, and listening to what they have to say. These informative pieces can become topics for your writing. You can then use these information to collect more details by researching from other resources, and collectively come up with outlines for your article.

  5. Step 5

Learn Something New Daily >> You can write about what you learned, your learning experience and even teach others while you learn doing new things. Some people say there's nothing new under the sun, but you should know that we all do things differently even on the same subject. It's good to know there is more than one way on doing something.

Go visit some place, take a class, go to a library, read a magazine, watch a documentary/DIY program on TV are just some suggestions to get ideas coming.

  6. Step 6

Lower Your Standards >> You will be more motivated and ideas will flow more easily by trying not to be a perfectionist in writing. Writing is easy if you avoid comparing the difference between your performance and expectations. Writers' fear of not being good enough result in many articles never written, don't let this happen to you.

  7. Step 7

Stay Away from Negativity >> One of the predominant cause of writer's block is self-doubt. You may think writing this is a waste of energy and time, since there are tons written about it already. But, take this, every experience is unique to each person, and this applies to yours, too.

In addition, many times the cause for self-doubt may not even be writing related, but rather stress induced, such as things you have no control of in life and unrest thought of uncertainties in the future. If something is worrying you in the back of your head, seek help by discussing it with someone close to you. Once you declutter your brain, you can get the creative flow again. Seriously, don't let negative thoughts procrastinate you write.

  8. Step 8

Overcoming writer's block should not be difficult by following all or some of the above suggested ideas. Hopefully you will find these tips effective. Good luck and happy writing to all!
