Many of us have the caffeine addiction, but how much is that addiction costing our wallet each month? Having worked at Starbucks for over a year, I can tell you first hand that many people spend a couple hundred dollars a month on different espresso beverages. All that money wasted and for what? Something they could so easily make at home. The Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks is by far one of their top sellers so let me save you some money. Learning how to make the Starbucks Caramel Macchiato is very simple and your bank account will thank you.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Home espresso machine
  • Vanilla Syrup
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Milk
  • Cup/Mug/Tumbler
  • Espresso
  1. Step 1

To begin making a Starbucks Caramel Macchiato, put Vanilla syrup at the bottom of the cup you'll be using. If you have a pump dispenser, 3 pumps will suffice. If no pump, 2 tablespoons will be right. Of course this amount can go up or down depending on if you prefer a sweeter or less sweet tasting Caramel Macchiato.

  2. Step 2

Next up will be milk preparation. Steam milk in accordance with your own espresso machine. Once the milk is steamed, pour the milk into your cup. Be sure to leave a half inch of room at the top of the cup.

  3. Step 3

Macchiato is an Italian word meaning "marked." This means that the espresso shots will go on top of the milk/foam. Prepare your espresso shot(s) in accordance to your espresso machine. Pour the espresso shot(s) on top of the milk. DO NOT stir the shots into the milk. If you want the true Caramel Macchiato taste, the shots should not be stirred into the milk.

  4. Step 4

After the shots are poured, you've come to the final stage. Take the caramel sauce and drizzle(Starbucks term for cover) the caramel on top of your milk/foam/shots. About 3/4 of the top of the milk should be covered with caramel sauce, but again this amount can increase or decrease depending on your taste preference. You're now done. I hope you enjoy your much cheaper Starbucks style Caramel Macchiato.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not let your espresso shots sit for over 30 seconds before pouring them on top of the milk. If you do let them sit too long, the espresso shot gets bitter.
