Keeping a prayer journal can help deepen your faith and your relationship with God. A prayer journal is not a special object that will help God hear and answer your prayers more quickly. Rather, it can help you focus on your prayer requests. It can also aid you in remembering those for whom you have promised to pray. Ultimately, a prayer journal will provide proof that God does hear you when you look back at your prayers and see how they have been answered. You do not need a special journal. In fact, you can make one yourself.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Blank notebook or three-ring binder and blank paper
  • Computer with printer or pen and ruler
  • Three-hole punch
  • Tab or page divider
  1. Step 1

Use a ruler to divide each page into four equal columns. If you are using a computer and printer to make a prayer journal, use a word-processing program and make four columns on a page. Separate each column with a vertical line.

  2. Step 2

Title the first column for your journal "Prayer Date." At the top of the second column, write or type "Prayer Request." Label the third column "Answer" and the fourth "Date Answered."

  3. Step 3

Repeat with most of the pages in your journal. If you are using your computer and printer to make your prayer journal, print several copies of the prayer journal page you created. Punch holes in the pages with a three-hole punch and place them in the binder.

  4. Step 4

Use a tab or page divider to add another section to your prayer journal. Label this section "Requests from Others." Use this section to jot down prayer requests from family members and friends. This will help remind you to pray for them.

  5. Step 5

Keep your prayer journal near where you typically spent quiet time in prayer. Use it to remind you for whom you want to pray. Write down the dates of your prayers and any requests you make. Whenever you notice that a prayer has been answered, make sure to log the information in your journal. Continue to pray for every request written in your journal until you see how God has answered.
