Instructions

    • 1

Lay the sock out flat in front of you so the cuff is away from you and the toe is toward you.

    • 2

Roll the toe of the sock upward once so the bottom of the foot is now parallel with the cuff opening.

    • 3

Make one more roll for a loose, almost blossoming flower, or twice more for a tight bud.

    • 4

Hold the rolls securely with your non-dominant hand. Use your other hand to open the cuff and flip it inside-out over the rolled portion of the sock. As long as the rolls are secure, how much the cuff covers is an aesthetic decision.

    • 5

Insert floral wire or a green pipe cleaner in the opening at the base of the flower as far as you can without poking through the other side.

    • 6

Wrap floral tape around the base of the flower and down the wire or pipe cleaner for at least 1 inch for security.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose socks that match the colors the mommy-to-be wants to dress her baby in. Socks with ruffled or different-colored cuffs add detail and stand out. Make a dozen sock flowers and put them in a vase or make a few and combine them into a corsage. Sock flowers are an alternative to traditional flowers for women still in the hospital after giving birth.
