LED lamps

LED lamps are a unique way to express your own personality, add ambiance to a room or make a unique lighted centerpiece.

In the pictures, I've used a clear glass vase by itself, the same clear glass vase with a feather rose in it and a clear jar with a variety of colored grapes in it.

You can use any translucent container to make your LED lamp. Try a large translucent candle holder or a punched tin one with a design in it to let the light through or any container that will allow the light to shine through. I've even seen a collectible Godzilla toy stuffed with LED lights so they shine through the eyes, nose and mouth. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

The big advantage of using LED lights to make these lamps is that they burn so cool you don't have to worry about any decoration in the container being overheated or damaged.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A translucent container
  • A string of LED lights
  • Any decoration you choose to put in your LED lamp.
  1. Step 1

Making an LED lamp is really simple. I used a battery operated 20 light string of rice lights in the examples shown. Of course the number of lights will be dictated by the size of your container and how much light you want your lamp to give off.

You can simply stuff the lights into the container, or

  2. Step 2

Start placing your lights at the bottom of the container, add some fruit, flowers, or what ever decoration you want in your lamp and spiral the lights up through the decorations as you add them. Most LED lights come on a transparent cord so it is easily hidden or not too noticeable. If your cord is colored and your container is clear, you might want to take extra care to hide it in the decoration.

  3. Step 3

If you're using a battery operated set of LED lights, allow the battery pack to hang down the back of the container, or if the cord is long enough, lay it behind the container on the table or shelf your lamp is on. Your LED lamp is finished!

Tips & Warnings
  • Make your LED lamp as simple or as elaborate as you want. Add a wide ribbon and maybe a bow to hide the cord coming out of the lamp.
  • If you'll be storing your lamp or if it won't be in constant use, remove the batteries from the battery pack to prolong their life.
