The PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a popular handheld game console and multimedia player made by Sony. Users can use the PSP to play games, watch videos and browse the Internet through a Wi-Fi connection. This device also makes a great portable music player. The accepted music files include MP3, MP4, WAV and WMA and can be transferred from a computer onto the memory stick of the PSP to enjoy.

  • PSP
  • Memory Stick Duo or Pro Duo
  • Music files
  • USB cable with Mini-B connector

Instructions

      Insert memory stick into memory stick slot of PSP located on left side. Turn on the PSP.

      Plug USB cable into back of PSP and attach to computer. Mini-B connector end plugs into PSP and standard USB connector plugs into computer.

      Select "Settings" icon on home menu of PSP. Locate the "USB Connection" icon under the "Settings" menu. Press the "X" button. Your PSP will display "USB Mode", and your computer will now recognize it as a USB storage device.

      Create a folder called "PSP" on the PSP memory stick. The memory stick should appear as a portable storage device on your computer. Inside the "PSP" folder, create a folder called "Music."

      Drag and drop music files into the "Music" folder. Disconnect PSP from computer and remove USB cord. You can now listen to music on your PSP.
