Things You'll Need:
- Wall mountable solar lights
- A drill
- A pencil to mark holes for the drill
- A level (optional)
- A ruler (optional)
-
Step 1
Choose the surface for your wall mounted outdoor solar lights
First, decide which vertical surface you want to place one or more solar garden lights on. Many surfaces are suitable for placing wall mounted outdoor solar lights on, including walls, fences or columns. You will likely need to drill holes for the solar garden lights, so make sure you will be able to do that on the surface that you choose. -
Step 2
Check if your outdoor solar lights will get enough sun
The spot you have chosen for your solar garden lights needs to get enough hours of direct sunlight each day so the outdoor solar lights’ batteries will recharge. Check for anything that might cast shadows on your wall mounted solar garden lights. -
Step 3
Make sure the outdoor solar lights won’t be in the way of anything
Check to make sure the solar garden lights won’t be jutting out too much and that nothing will run into them, such as an opening door or gate or something that needs to pass by the outdoor solar lights. -
Step 4
Test the solar garden lights at night
It might be a good idea to hold up your outdoor solar lights temporarily after dark, to see if they will light up the area or spot that you are hoping for. It is better to check this in advance than to install your solar garden lights, then find out afterwards that your outdoor solar lights don’t create the look or lighting that you wanted in that particular spot. -
Step 5
Mark the spots to drill holes for your solar garden lights
Mark the holes for the outdoor solar lights in the wall or vertical surface. It might be a good idea to use a level or measuring tape for the holes, especially if you will be mounting several solar garden lights, to make sure that they will be an equal distance from the top, side or bottom of the edge of your wall. You may want all of the outdoor solar lights evenly spaced, level and at a uniform height. -
Step 6
Drill holes for the solar garden lights
Once you have the holes marked for your wall mounted outdoor solar lights, drill the holes for the outdoor solar lights in the wall, fence or column. Be sure to use the right size of drill bit for the required screws for the solar garden lights and the right type of drill bit for the surface. -
Step 7
Mount the outdoor solar lights
Once the holes have been drilled, you can now mount your wall mounted solar garden lights with the screws.
Congratulations ! You have now successfully mounted one or more wall mounted solar garden lights. Your outdoor solar lights will add a lot to any fence, wall or column.
