Find an air filter for your room size. Air filters come in different sizes and abilities. You will need to determine the square footage of the area you want to remove dust from. Most air cleaners are built to work in one particular room or floor, so you will probably need more than one to remove the dust from your whole house.

Look for an air cleaner with a HEPA filter. HEPA filters remove air pollutants down to .3 microns. A micron is about 1/100 the width of a human hair. HEPA filters do really well to remove dust and even much smaller materials.

Set up the air filter in the room or rooms you want to remove the dust from. Make sure that the filter is not directly up against a wall or something else that will restrict the airflow. Be aware that it will make some noise while it's running.

Change and check the filters often. A HEPA filter may be good for one or more years, but the smell might require it to be changed sooner. Other filters need to be changed more often. You will need to check the manufactures instruction for all cleaning information. There may also be pre-filters that catch larger air particles that will need to be cleaned regularly as well.
