How to Make Steamed Milk at Home
Many fans of lattes and cappuccinos would love to have their own drinks at home made themselves to their own particular tastes. If more of us knew how to make the steamed milk, there might be less business for franchise coffee bars. Although a steamer wand or espresso machine (which contains a tiny medal wand that shoots air from steamed water through it) is the most effective way of steaming milk at home, it is possible to steam milk without the wand or espresso machine. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Pour your milk into a small microwave-safe bowl or coffee cup. Microwave for approximately 30 seconds. It should be fairly warm to the touch when you remove it from the microwave.
-
2
Use a frother or a hand mixer (see Resources for pictures) to froth your milk. Frothers tend to work better, but if you do not have one you can froth the milk with your whipping device. Surprisingly, a hand mixer that is not electric may work better.

Once your milk is frothed (and it should still be warm), you can spoon dollops of the mixed milk on to your favorite drink.

Tips & Warnings
Consider buying a milk steamer. You can find them online for between $20 and $30 for a good quality machine that will give you delicious steamed milk. Any kind (meaning low fat, 2 percent, whole, etc.) of milk can suffice for your steaming. A food thermometer is helpful if you are a beginner at milk steaming. The more fat the milk contains the better it tends to work. Therefore, whole milk works better than 1 percent.
Be careful not to burn yourself on the cup, mug or bowl you use to heat the milk in the microwave. Be careful not to overheat your milk
