How to Clean Leather Stains

Correctly remove stains from leather.

Leather is a delicate material that can tear or rip easily. In addition, when spills occur, leather soaks the liquid up right away. Clean stains on your leather furniture or clothing as soon as they occur. Otherwise, the stain may be impossible to remove. However, some products can remove even the toughest stains. Leather stain removers are available in department and home-improvement stores.

Things You'll Need

• 2 soft cloths
• Bowl
• Soft towel
• Leather stain remover

Instructions

1. Add warm water to a bowl. Dunk a soft cloth in the water and squeeze it out.

2. Wipe the cloth over the leather stain, gently rubbing in circles. This will lift any fresh dirt away from the leather material.

3. Dry the leather area with a soft towel. Always make sure the leather is completely dry before using stain remover.

4. Spray leather stain remover over the spot. If you have a cream or gel, squeeze approximately a quarter-size amount on the cloth. Use a leather-safe product with a stain-removal agent, such as System Clean Furniture Polish or CPR Leather Cleaner.

5. Wipe the stain remover into the leather material. Press softly in a circular motion to lift the stain.

6. Rub away excess leather cleaner with a towel. Repeat the entire process if the stain is still present.
