How to Add Video to Zune

A Zune is a portable media device that allows you to keep all your favorite music, videos and podcasts in your pocket. Whether you have home videos or movies bought from the Zune marketplace, adding video to your Zune device is fairly easy and straightforward.

1. Import videos into your Zune program. If you have purchased videos through the Zune marketplace, this has been done for you. If not, then you will need to import the files by going to the top of the Zune software and clicking on "Collections" and then "Videos." Several links should appear in the center of the screen. Click "Check Folders for Video Files." The Zune software will then automatically scan your computer for new videos and import them into the program.

2. Connect your Zune using the bundled sync cable. Plug the data end of the cord into the bottom of the Zune and then plug the USB end into the computer. Once the Zune is connected, you will see a small Zune icon appear at the bottom of the program.

3. Drag videos to the Zune. The easiest way to get your videos onto the Zune is to highlight the ones you want and then drag them down to the Zune icon at the bottom of the screen. Once you drag the icon to the Zune, its status will change to "syncing," and you will see the data bar at the bottom of the program change to reflect the newly added content.

Tips & Warnings

• The Zune hardware is capable of playing back only files that are in the M4V, MP4 or WMV format. If your videos are in a different format, you will need to convert them before syncing.
