How to Plant a Sugar Cane Crop

Sugar cane requires warm weather, and it can grown in tropical climates a few years before harvesting. If freezing occurs, grow sugar cane only in the warm months and harvest before the temperatures fall. The longer sugar cane is left to grow, the larger the sugar crop. Sugar cane resembles bamboo in shape; the lower leaves die off, leaving the bottom brown and the top green. Six feet of space is required between each row of the plant.
