How to Make Gift Box
If you have a lot of small items or a gift that is an awkward shape, making a gift box can help tremendously when it comes time to wrap the present. If you make the gift box out of attractive paper, such as an old greeting card or a poster, you may not even have to wrap the gift at all. The gift box can serve both purposes in itself. Just make sure the paper you use is sturdy enough to support the weight of the gift inside.
Things You'll Need
- Two square sheets of paper (one slightly larger)
- Scissors
- Invisible tape

1
Lay your paper in front of you, printed side down, so that it looks like a diamond, with one of the corners facing you. Fold the paper so that the top and bottom edges meet, making a triangle.
-
2
Unfold the paper and repeat for the left and right edges. Unfold again. Now you will have crease lines that form a plus sign. Fold the bottom corner up so that its tip hits the center of the plus sign. Fold the other three corners inward in the same fashion.

3
Look at your paper. It now resembles a square, with a straight edge facing you. Fold the left edge inward until it touches the center. Do the same with the right edge. Now your paper looks like a set of double doors.

Tips & Warnings
When choosing paper to use, consider the size and weight of the gift. While cardstock will make your box very sturdy, it will also make it a bit tougher to fold. Once you've practiced on a couple of boxes and have a good idea of the proportions, you can draw in all the fold lines and skip Steps 1 to 3.
