How to Put a Bulleted List on a Web Page

Bulleted lists emphasize important points in a web page.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • "A text editor, such as Notepad or EditPad"
  1. Step 1

    Open the web page using a text editor, such as Notepad or EditPad.

  2. Step 2

    Place your cursor where you want the bulleted list to begin.

  3. Step 3

    Type the following:

      . This stands for 'unordered list'; an 'ordered list' is also known as a numbered list.

    • Step 4

      Press the return key and type the following:

    • . This stands for 'list item,' just like a numbered (or 'ordered') list.

    • Step 5

      Type your text and press return. Type

    • before each line to be bulleted.

    • Step 6

      End the bulleted list by typing

    . The backslash indicates a closing tag.

  4. Step 7

    Save the file.

  5. Step 8

    Open your browser and select Open from the File menu. Click Browse, locate the file and click Open to view the page in your browser.

  6. Step 9

    Type your information after each list item

Tips & Warnings
  • You do not have to add the break
    tag after each line item. The list tag does it for you.
