How to Make a Bee Catcher

Bee sting allergies can keep some people from going outside. Use soda pop bottles with a little bit of flat soda pop inside to make a bee trap. The sugar in the soda pop attracts the bees. Set the bottle by the trash can at a park or picnic. Change the bottle out every few days or when the soda pop is gone.

Things You'll Need

  • Plastic soda pop bottle
  • 1/4 cup of soda pop
  • Knife
  • Roll of masking tape
  • Glass
  • Marker

Instructions

    • 1

Measure out one-fourth cup of soda pop and put it in a glass. Flat soda pop works well.

    • 2

Use the marker to mark a ring around the bottle, about a fourth of the way down.

    • 3

Lay the bottle on its side and cut along the line.

    • 4

Stand the bottom piece up. Pour in the soda pop.

    • 5

Set the top piece in the bottom one, upside down.

    • 6

Put tape around the edge to hold the pieces in place.

    • 7

      Set outside.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful with the knife. Have a firm grip on the bottom to prevent slipping while cutting.
