How to Use Open Office Basic
Open Office Basic is a freeware replica of the prominent Microsoft Office. Open Office has six internal program applications created for desktop publishing designed for creating high quality, professional layouts, spreadsheets, documents and graphics. It is a user-friendly tool that can be utilized for work, business, and educational purposes. Using Open Office can come with ease for all users with proper instruction and tutorial assistance.

Download the Open Office Basic software. Click on the "Download" link below. When the page opens, there will be an ActiveX control application at the top of the page. Click on the "ActiveX" bar and select the "Download File" in the ActiveX dropdown menu. When the download window opens, click on the "Save" action to save the program and its component applications to your computer's hard drive.

Click on the "Text Document" icon link and image. When the Open Office Welcome screen loads, you will see several options displayed on the screen. Open Office Writer will open as a result of this action. There will be toolbars and icons displayed across the top and down the left pane of the screen. These icons will enable you to edit text in the manner of font changes, indentation, text graphics, and enhancements.

Open the Open Office Impress application component. Each Open Office application componenet will have an icon installed and displayed on your computer's desktoop screen. Double-click on the "Impress" icon. When the program opens, click on the "New Document" option to create a new presentation. There will be slides along the left pane of the screen.

Edit and create images with Open Office Draw. Click on the "Draw" icon on your computer's desktop screen. When the application component opens, you will have the option to upload an image from your hard drive, or create a brand new image. Choose the option you desire, and the editorial toolbars will be displayed along the left pane of the screen. Use these tools to create a new image or edit an existing image.

Develop spreadsheets and databases in Base. Double-click on the "Base" icon on the computer's desktop. When the "Base" application opens, a default spreadsheet will be displayed and there will be squares designated for data entry. Use the designated squares to insert your information in the square you click on.

Create and edit mathematical formulas with Open Office "Math." Open Office Math comes equipped with mathematical formula symbols and templates. Click on the "Format" tab in the toolbar at the top of the screen and select the type of formula you would like to edit or create. Type your mathematical information in default data forms provided for the formula or template.
