1
Find someone you would like to be friends with. Think of someone who likes the same things that you do, or who seems like a nice person.
-
2
Spend time with that person. Try to play the same games at recess, sit next to each other in your classes, or offer to save a seat for her on the bus.
-
-
3
Try to look at the good side of things. Nobody wants to be friends with a grumpy person who is always complaining.
-
4
Listen when the person talks to you. Nod your head to show that you understand what he is saying, and say things like, "Wow, that must be tough" or "Hey, I never thought of that" to show that you're really thinking about what you've heard.
-
5
If you don't agree with something that the person is doing, ask her if she could do it a different way. Unless you think that what she's doing is wrong or mean, try going along with it anyway. You might find that you'll have more fun that way.

Tips & Warnings
Once you've become closer with someone, start saying things like "You're a really great friend" or "It's so much fun hanging out with you." That will make him know that you like spending time with him and want to be his friend.
Don't share any important secrets with someone until you are completely sure that she is a good friend and won't share the secret with others. Instead, try sharing "safe" secrets, such as hobbies you have, what you think about school or what your favorite food is. Don't share your friend's secrets---ever. The only time you can share secrets is if they are dangerous and you are sharing them with an adult who can help.
