Half wigs, also called falls, are becoming increasingly popular. Applying a half wig can instantly give you a new look, whether you desire a short or long hairstyle. The process of putting on a half wig is simple for most, taking as little as 10 minutes; however, there is a proper way of applying a wig to make it look more natural on your head.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Half wig
  • Large-tooth comb
  • Hair clip
  • Hair pins
  • Wig brush

How to Apply a Half Wig

  1. Step 1

Make a hair bang in the front of your hair and keep it out of the way using a hair clip. This portion of your hair will be used to cover the half wig when it is applied. Comb the remaining part of your hair straight back. If you have long hair, put your hair in a low ponytail.

  2. Step 2

Using the front part of the half wig, insert the attached hair combs in the parting that separates your hair bang from the hair that is combed back. Make sure the half wig is securely attached.

  3. Step 3

Using the back part of the half wig (where the tag is located), insert the attached hair combs close to the bottom of your hairline. Again, make sure the half wig is securely attached. Be sure all of your hair is inside the wig.

  4. Step 4

Add hair pins to keep the half wig in place. Place a hair pin on the left and right side behind the ear and one on each side of the back of your head to secure the wig.

  5. Step 5

Remove the hair clip from your bang. Comb the remaining part of your hair over the half wig. Use the wig brush to style.

Tips & Warnings
  • When choosing a half wig, make sure the color matches your natural hair color. Another way to secure the wig is by braiding the unused portion of your hair. Braiding your hair will serve as traction to keep the wig stationary.
  • Heat cannot be applied to synthetic wigs.
