MySpace is one of several social network websites that gives people a place to customize a personalized page to share with family and friends online. After creating an account, you can add friends, post photos, write blogs, post bulletins, as well as add your favorite songs to your MySpace page.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Access
  • MySpace account
  • MP3 files (for recording artists only)
  1. Step 1

Click on the profile for the friend whose photos you want to see. Each profile has a default profile photo, which is generally located at the top left-hand corner of your friend's profile. Click on your friend's default profile photo to browse additional photos.

In some cases, you may receive a message when you click on a photo indicating that the photo is not available for you to view. This is because your friend has placed restrictions on who can view her photos. Some people only wish to share info and photos from their MySpace pages with family members, so you will not be able to see those particular photos on MySpace.

  2. Step 2

MySpace allows you to create personalized playlists of your favorite songs. If you already have a song in mind that you want to add to you profile, visit the page for the recording artist who sings the song you want to add. Find the Music Player on that artist's page. Click on the plus sign next to the song you want to add. You will be prompted to place your chosen song into a playlist. Since this is the first song you're adding, you must decide what you want to call your playlist, type in the name, then click "Ok." Repeat the steps in this section for each song you want to add. After you have finished adding each song you want on your playlist, be sure to save your playlist. Once saved, your new playlist will automatically appear on your MySpace profile.

  3. Step 3

If you don't have a specific song in mind that you want to add to your page, you can do a search for songs. Click on the "Music" tab from the navigational menu at the top of your MySpace page. Enter the name of the song in the search toolbar provided. Click on the plus sign to add the song to your newly created playlist.

  4. Step 4

If you are pursuing a music career as a recording artist, MySpace provides a special format for artists to create a MySpace Music page to promote their music. You are allowed to upload up to 10 of your own songs to share with your fans. First, you must sign in to your account. Click on "Edit Profile," then "Manage Featured Songs." To the right of this page, you will see a link that says, "Add a song to your profile!" Click on this link, type in the title of your song then upload the MP3. Songs must be in MP3 format to be uploaded onto your MySpace page. You can also upload a photo to accompany your song, although this is optional.

  5. Step 5

If you don't already have a MySpace page but want to start one, you must register for a new page. Visit myspace.com. To the right of the page, you will see a box for you to log in. Click on the "Sign Up!" link. You will be asked to enter your email address, a password, your full name, birthday, and gender. Enter your information in all fields, then click the yellow "Sign Up" button.

  6. Step 6

To create your own Music MySpace page to share your music with fans, go to myspace.com. To the right of the page, you will see a box for you to log in. Click on the "Sign Up!" link. To the right of this page, you will see a section marked "Profile Types." The first link is "If you are a Musician, Sign up here." Click on this link. You will be asked to enter and confirm your email address and password, your official musician name, genre of music, the country you are from, state, and postal code, plus preferred site and language. You must also type in the letters and/or numbers shown in the verification field, then check the box underneath, which confirms that you agree to comply with MySpace Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. After you have completed all required fields, click on the blue "Sign Up" button. Once you have created your new profile, you may begin adding photos and your own songs, as well as career biography and other pertinent information you want to share with your fans. Don't forget to request friends to become your fans.

Tips & Warnings
  • MySpace heavily monitors the material that is uploaded to their website. Please note that you are not allowed to upload any songs to your MySpace Music page unless you own the rights to those songs. If you are caught uploading songs to your MySpace Music page for which you do not own the rights to, you have engaged in copyright infringement, and you risk having your uploading privileges be suspended.
