Creating a corsage for your wedding is an opportunity to express your love with flowers. Whether you choose delicate pastel flowers or bright and bold sprigs, crafting your own wedding corsages will add a distinctive touch to your very important day. You could design a corsage using fresh or silk flowers, or add an individual look with ribbons. Create a custom corsage for the mothers of the bride and groom, or design a one-of-a-kind corsage for the special members of your family. Make this day even more exceptional with wedding corsages you construct yourself.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flowers
  • Baby's breath
  • Leaves
  • Scissors
  • Floral tape
  • Ribbon
  • Corsage pins

    Creating Your Wedding Corsage

  1. Step 1

Trim the stems of the flowers, baby's breath and leaves to three inches.

  2. Step 2

Place the largest flower on your work surface. This flower will be the center of your corsage.

  3. Step 3

Arrange the smaller flowers around the center flower until you are satisfied with the arrangement. Create the arrangement using an odd number of flowers for more visual appeal. Three to five smaller flowers is the rule of thumb.

  4. Step 4

Wrap floral tape around the stem of the center flower. Gather the smaller flowers and arrange them around the center flower.

  5. Step 5

Wrap the floral tape around the smaller flowers, attaching them to the center flower. Wrap the flowers firmly without breaking or damaging the flower stems.

  6. Step 6

Add baby's breath to the corsage. Use the baby's breath to fill in gaps around the smaller flowers. You want to create an evenly shaped corsage.

  7. Step 7

Position leaves around the baby's breath and the flowers. The leaves are used to showcase the flowers and the delicacy of the baby's breath. Wrap the floral tape around your wedding corsage to secure the final positioning of the flowers, baby's breath and leaves.

  8. Step 8

Cut a length of ribbon. You may choose to add several ribbons or create a simple bow to attach to your wedding corsage.

  9. Step 9

Attach the ribbon to your wedding corsage with floral tape. Gently pull the floral tape so the ribbon is placed firmly against the corsage. Smooth the floral tape into place.

  10. Step 10

Pin the wedding corsage to your guest. Hold the wearer's clothing away from them while pinning. Stick the pin into the clothing, through the floral taped stems of the corsage, back into the clothing, and out of the clothing so the tip of the pin is on the outside of the fabric.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep a few extra sprigs of baby's breath with the corsages for emergency filler. Floral tape sticks to itself. It is not necessary to glue the ends into place. Wrist corsages are made the same way as a corsage you pin at the shoulder. Purchase a wristlet and attach the corsage with floral tape. If you have a very large, distinctive flower, you may decide to add only baby's breath and leaves to the corsage arrangement. An orchid can stand alone with leaves and baby's breath as filler.
  • Create fresh flower wedding corsages as close to the wedding day as possible. Store the corsages in a refrigerator.
