How to Fish a Zoom Fluke
The Zoom Fluke is a hollow, soft-plastic, artificial lure popular in freshwater bass fishing. Designed to resemble baitfish, the Fluke is available in sizes of 3 to 5 inches long and comes in eight colors for a variety of fishing conditions. Different colors help you match the correct Fluke to the types of baitfish in the waters you'll be fishing. The hollow design lets anglers hook the Fluke from the top, bottom or side without altering the lure's movement in the water. This gives you greater flexibility when deciding the most effective way to present the bait. Follow these steps to fish the Fluke for maximum effect.

1
Find out what types of baitfish reside in the waters you'll be visiting so you can choose the best Fluke colors to buy.
-
2
Rig the Fluke Carolina-style for a weedless presentation by stabbing a hook through the top center section of the bait. Hold the hook so the eye is pointing toward the back of the lure as you insert the point through the top of the Fluke.
-
-
3
Curve the hook down through the Fluke and turn the barb upward to pierce the inside top of the lure.
-
4
Push the barb up so it protrudes only slightly through the top of the Fluke and points toward the head. This rigging allows you to fish the fluke through weed beds, lily pads and other obstructions with minimal snagging.
-
5
Cast the Fluke toward the banks, near boat docks and underwater structure.
-
6
Use a stop-and-go, jerky retrieval to mimic a wounded or distressed baitfish. The Fluke is designed to look and act like a baitfish in the water when fished with a jerking motion.
-
7
Be ready for strikes during the pause in your stop-and-go retrieval. Often, bass will attack the Fluke the moment it hovers briefly in the water, motionless.
