How to Make Dipped Pretzels

  • Wax paper
  • 10-ounce bag of pretzel rods
  • 20-ounce package white or chocolate almond bark
  • Candy pieces
  • Chocolate chips
  • Plastic resealable bag

Instructions

  1. Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Rods

      Cut a 9-inch by 13-inch piece of wax paper and place it on a flat surface.

      In a microwave safe bowl, melt the almond bark. Microwave for one minute and stir. Continue melting in 15-second increments, stirring after each, until the chocolate is completely melted. Watch closely, as you do not want it to burn.

      Pour the melted almond bark into a rectangular dish about as long as a pretzel rod.

      One at a time, dip each pretzel rod into the almond bark and roll until it the rod is completely covered in chocolate. Hold the pretzel rod over the dish of almond bark to drip off any excess.

      Place each chocolate-covered pretzel rod onto the wax paper and let dry 30 minutes to an hour.

    Optional Candy or Chocolate Toppings

      Before beginning steps for the chocolate covered pretzels, place candy or chocolate pieces into a resealable plastic bag and seal tightly.

      Crush the candy pieces in the plastic bag by pounding with a heavy rolling pin on a hard, flat surface.

      Pour the crushed candy pieces into a shallow dish. Follow steps 1-4 from above.

      After dipping the pretzels in almond bark in Step 4 above, roll each rod in the crushed candy pieces and then set the pretzel to dry on wax paper for 30 minutes to an hour.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although you may use white or chocolate almond bark, the white is more aesthetically pleasing and popular. Use colored sprinkles or mints to create a pretzel that is red and green for Christmas.
