How to Start Good Relationships
As you enter into a new relationship, think about what you value in a friend or partner and try to reflect those needs in your behavior. Whether you are looking for a romantic partner or a close platonic friend, the right attitude can help you forge a healthy, lasting relationship.

1
Be honest from the beginning. One of the easiest ways to start a good relationship is to be upfront about your interests, goals, opinions and personality. Hiding your true colors will only lead to conflict later.
-
2
Respect your friend or partner for who they are. Although it can be tempting to try to fix other people's flaws, this can lead to resentment and an unhealthy dynamic in your relationship.

3
Develop good listening skills. The healthiest relationships are marked by a balance of give and take. Feel free to share your thoughts, frustrations and ideas, but also remember to be there for your friend or partner and consider his feelings and opinions.
-
4
Voice your concerns constructively when you feel you have been wronged. Instead of keeping hard feelings inside, let your friend or partner know when you're upset so that you can find a solution to the problem.
-
5
Avoid holding grudges. Remember that it's OK for friends to disagree with each other's opinions and choices. Allowing frustration and resentment to carry on long after your fight has ended will do nothing but damage your relationship. Instead, look for a middle ground or just agree to disagree on the issue.
