How to Make Power Ranger Costumes

The Power Rangers have been a pop culture icon for many years, so costumes for them can be popular for Halloween, costume parties or other events. The Power Rangers' costumes are known for basically being jumpsuits and helmets in bright solid colors. While there are similarities to making such a costume, there have been more than a dozen varieties of Rangers over the years, all with slightly different costumes. If you want a specific Power Ranger's costume, make sure you have picture or images of that Ranger's costume to guide you.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin with a long sleeve shirt and pants that are the same solid color. This can possibly be a full sweat suit or a track suit. The basic Power Rangers colors include red, blue, yellow, green, black and pink.

    • 2

Cut white felt into triangles about 3 inches long and sew them onto the cuffs on the shirt. Cut more felt into triangles so the length measures half the height of the shirt, or cut into diamonds that measure the full height. Sew these designs onto the front and back of the shirt; triangles would point down.

    • 3

Add a pair of white gloves and white boots. If you can't get either of these in white, look for a set of old but clean gloves and/or boots and color them white. Use paint or dye, whichever works best on the material.

    • 4

Paint a helmet with a full face plate to match the same color as the rest of the suit. With thin brushes, you can also hand paint any design on the helmet that matches the design shown on your particular Power Ranger helmet.

    • 5

Make a cape if it goes with the particular Ranger costume. Cut the cape out of fabric in the same color as the rest of the costume and attach a string to it so it can be worn across the neck. You can also add gold glitter paint along the cape's edges.
