Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Grab a diaper and roll it up like a scroll. Start rolling from the open end of the diaper. Use a rubber band to prevent the diaper from rolling open.
-
Step 2
Roll up more diapers and place them inside of the rubber band. They should create a circular shape. You should have used about 8 diapers for the top layer of the cake.
-
Step 3
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to create the middle layer of the cake. This time you should use about 23 diapers. Do the same for the bottom layer of the cake using about 53 diapers.
-
Step 4
Cut a circle about 4 inches larger than the base of the cake out of cardboard. Spray paint the cardboard white or in the color scheme of the baby's nursery (if you know). Allow the cardboard to dry.
-
Step 5
Place the base of the cake in the center of the cardboard piece.
-
Step 6
Remove a few diapers out of the centers of the diaper cake layers to add gifts such as lotions, creams, or other supplies (nail clippers, combs, brushes etc.).
-
Step 7
Attach each layer of the diaper cake together using a large, thin wooden stick. Stick it through the center of the cake. Be sure it is not visible at the top of the cake.
-
Step 8
Put stuffed animals around the cake and inside hide coupons, gift certificates, or a card.
-
Step 9
Wrap ribbon around the diapers and tie bows. The ribbons should cover the rubber bands. This makes the cake more aesthetically pleasing.
-
Step 10
Wrap your cake in cellophane or a mesh-type material and secure it at the top with a bow. Give away as a gift or use as a decoration at a baby shower.
