How to Increase RAM in an eMachines T1220

Increasing the installed random access memory (RAM) in an eMachines T1220 desktop computer is one of the single greatest performance enhancing upgrades you can perform. The eMachines T1220 comes from the manufacturer with 128 MB of installed RAM that can be upgraded to a total of 512 MB. There are two available memory slots within the desktop computer where any computer user can successfully install RAM.

      Disconnect the T1220 from any power sources and remove the side access panel.

      Locate the two RAM slots on the motherboard. These RAM slots are located on the right side of the motherboard nearest the hard drives.

      Remove the currently installed RAM module. Simply pull back the white retention levers on each end of the RAM slot and the module will pop out of place.

      Insert each of the new RAM modules into one of the two available RAM slots. These RAM modules are keyed so they may only be inserted in one orientation. Simply pressing the RAM module into the slot in the correct orientation will cause the retention levers to snap into place holding the module firmly.

      Replace the T1220's side access panel and re-establish any previously disconnected electrical sources.
