How to Make Seashell Ornaments
Modern Christmas ornaments are becoming more and more creative. Avoid spending high prices on seashell ornaments by creating them at home instead. With a few craft supplies and a hot glue gun, a traditional household tree can be covered with colorful seashells. Make a double batch of these ornaments, and give them away as Christmas presents to co-workers and friends.

Instructions
-
-
1
Thoroughly wash all seashells to remove any salt residue.
-
2
Gently drill a hole in the top of each shell using the craft drill.
-
-
3
Turn on the hot glue gun, and allow it to warm up.
-
4
Place a small bead of hot glue on the front of the shell.
-
5
Place either a silver snowflake or a velvet bow in the glue.
-
6
Press gently until the glue sets, for about one minute.
-
7
Repeat steps four through six for each shell.
-
8
Thread a 5-inch piece of ribbon or ornament wire through the hole on the shell.
-
9
Tie the two ends of the ribbon together.
-
10
Take the piece of Christmas-themed fabric, and make a half-inch fold along the top. Either pin or iron to hold in place.
-
11
Using a straight stitch, sew along the bottom edge of the fold. This will create a hem at the top of the gift bag to prevent fraying.
-
12
Fold the fabric in half width-wise, with the design facing the inside.
-
13
Sew along the two sides and bottom edge of the fabric.
-
14
Turn the bag right side out.
-
15
Place the finished shells inside the bag.
-
16
Tie the bag closed with the red ribbon.

Tips & Warnings
Consider using other Christmas items to decorate shells such as gift bows, evergreen sprigs, stars or angels. To add a more professional touch, consider using gold or silver paint to cover the bottom edge of the shells.
Hot glue guns can cause serious burns. Avoid using around pets and young children. Craft drills can cause serious eye injuries should the shells chip. Always wear protective glasses when working with a drill.
