Picking up seashells on the beach can be a fun and relaxing activity. Preserve your memories by making a seashell angel with your seaside finds. You can make the angel into a Christmas tree ornament, or as a gift for friends. Create several angels and decorate a wreath for your front door. With a little bit of craft glue and glitter, the angels can really sparkle in your home during the holidays.

Step 1

Clean your shells under cool water. Simply use your hands and fingers to get any dirt off the shell. Allow them to dry completely.

Step 2

Cover the shell with craft glue. Sprinkle silver or gold glitter on the shell. Allow it to dry completely before moving on to the next step. This may take several hours.

Step 3

Lay the shell on the table so the wide part is facing down and the narrow end is at the top. Glue the small wooden ball to the top of the shell.

Step 4

Draw facial features on the ball with a fine tip marker. Use a light pink for a mouth or blushing cheeks; green, blue or brown make for a good eye color.

Step 5

Glue doll hair or yarn to the ball as hair. Make sure to cover the sides, top and back; you can even include short bangs in the front.

Step 6

Cut one length of ribbon about 5 inches long. Glue the two ends together, creating one loop. Pinch the loop together in the middle; it should look like two loops at this point. Glue the ribbon to the back of the shell, just below the head; only put glue where it is pinched together. This creates wings for the angel.

Step 7

Cut a short length of fishing line and create a loop. Glue the loop to the back of the angel; this is what you use to hang the angel. If you aren't planning to hang it anywhere, you can skip this step.

Tip

If you prefer to have the natural beauty of the shell shine through, do not add glitter to the entire shell.

Warning

Hot glue guns get very hot; be careful when using them.
