If you have ever been to the beach, you know that sand gets in everything and can ruin items with ease. So how do you keep your fishing rods and reels out of the sand when surf fishing? By using simple rod holders.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 10 Foot Length of Thick Wall PVC Pipe
  • Saw
  • Tape measure
  • Pen
  1. Step 1

Measure your PVC to the center of the pipe and mark it with the pen.

  2. Step 2

Measure 2 inches on either side of the line and mark with the pen.

  3. Step 3

Saw the pipe in half using the guides which you have drawn. Cut the pipe at a 45 degree angle using the outside to help you keep in line. The 45 degree angle will make the pipe easier to stick into the sand.

  4. Step 4

Use a brick to hammer the PVC pipe into the sand so that it does not fall over.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using this method, one piece of 10 foot length PVC will make 2 rod holders. You can, of course, make smaller ones using the same method but, the large height will help keep your line above the breakers.
  • Saws are dangerous when used improperly, so exercise caution.
