How to Use BCC for Email Addresses

How to Use BCC for Email Addresses thumbnail
The BCC feature is a little-known way of disguising email recipients.

BCC is an email term that stands for "blind carbon copy." Some email users do not know the function of the BCC form and the difference between it and the CC form. BCC can help you keep certain recipients of an email message private by not letting the other recipients know who received it. Learn to use the BCC function to your advantage when sending email.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign into your email inbox and begin composing a message. Many free email programs, such as Yahoo! and Hotmail, will require you to enable the BCC feature before you can use it. Click "Show BCC" to enable the feature.

    • 2

Type your message as you normally would. When you have finished your message, insert a primary email address to send the message to. Insert the other email addresses you want to send it to under CC. These email addresses will appear at the top of the email message, and the recipients will be able to see everyone that received it.

    • 3

Insert the recipient you want to be private in the BCC form. The BCC recipient will not see the other recipients of the email and the other recipients will not see the BCC email.
