How to Make Easy Fried Shrimp
Make a delicious beer batter early in the day, and when it's time for dinner, preparing easy fried shrimp takes only moments. The fried shrimp will be so delicious that your guests will never know you haven't spent hours in the kitchen. Things You'll Need
- About 25 shrimp
- 1 cup beer at room temperature
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- ½ tsp. salt
- Vegetable oil for deep-fat frying
- Deep-fat fryer or heavy saucepan
- Paper towels
- Slotted spoon
- Tongs
- Tartar sauce and/or cocktail sauce
- Fresh lemon wedges

Wash and shell the shrimp and remove the veins, leaving the tails intact. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and place the cleaned shrimp in a container filled with ice.

Prepare the beer batter for the fried shrimp. Mix the beer, all purpose flour and salt in a mixing bowl, stirring until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps. Cover the beer batter and set it aside for at least two hours.

Pour 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep-fat fryer or heavy saucepan and heat the oil to 350 to 375 degrees. Pat each shrimp dry with a paper towel, dip it into the batter until it's completely covered and drop it carefully into the hot oil.

Add the next shrimp to the hot oil, but don't fry more than a few at a time. Cook the shrimp until crispy and golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove any small bits of batter with a slotted spoon.

Remove the shrimp from the oil one at a time with tongs and let them dry on a thick layer of paper towels. Serve the fried shrimp hot and crispy with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and fresh lemon wedges.
