How to Make Trout Bait at Home
People like fishing for trout because of the challenge and the delicious reward that may come along with it. Trout are freshwater fish that have a mild, gamey flavor. Catching them can be difficult, especially if you aren't using the right kind of bait. You could go out and spend money on bait that you're not sure will work, or you can make your own bait at home that is sure to attract trout.
Things You'll Need
- Medium pot
- Large pot
- 1/2 pound Velveeta cheese
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups cornmeal
- 2 tbs garlic powder
- Wooden spoon
- Plate
- Paper towel
- Tongs

Melt the Velveeta cheese in the large pot over medium heat. Stir constantly to avoid burning. Turn the heat off once it is melted.

Add the rest of the ingredients except for the water. Mix well until it forms a thick, doughy consistency.

Roll mixture into half-inch balls and place them on a plate until all the mixture is used.

Boil the water in the medium pot. Drop four of the balls in at a time and let them cook for two minutes. Remove them with the tongs and place them on paper towels until they dry.

Continue boiling all of the balls until you are finished. Place them in a resealable container until you are ready to use them.

Tips & Warnings
Unused bait can be frozen and usable for up to a month.
