How to Make Dear Repellent

Deer are cute animals, but they can also be very destructive to your lawns and landscaping. They will eat any fruits or leaves that they can reach, tearing up and ruining your flowers and shrubs. In order to keep them away, you can make your own home made deer repellent that is blended from common household ingredients and will not harm the environment. Your homemade repellent will keep the deer from entering your yard and destroying your garden.

Things You'll Need

  • Blender
  • 1 gallon of water
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp. of hot sauce
  • 1 tsp. of liquid dish soap
  • 1 tbsp. of vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp. of finely crushed garlic
  • Strainer
  • 1 gallon bucket
  • 1 gallon spray bottle
  • 15 drops of cinnamon

Instructions

      Place one quart of water into a blender with 5 eggs and 1 cup buttermilk and blend until completely mixed, about 1 or 2 minutes.

      Add to the mix 2 tbsp. of hot sauce, 1 tsp. of liquid dish soap, 1 tbsp. of vegetable oil and 2 tsp. of finely crushed garlic. Blend together until thoroughly mixed.

      Strain the mixture with a strainer into a one gallon bucket and add 3 quarts of water to it. Mix the repellent thoroughly and pour into a gallon spray bottle.

      Spray the deer repellent on the vegetation in a limited area to watch and verify that it is keeping the deer away from that area.

      Once the effectiveness has been verified, spray the deer repellent on all vegetation and plants that you want protected.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you find the deer repellent is not working as effectively as you would like, add 15 drops of cinnamon to the next gallon mixture.
