Protein shakes are for people who need to consume extra protein. Protein helps build muscles, so you can buy protein-rich supplements from a health store or gym. You can add powdered whey protein or soy protein to a shake. Protein shakes are a healthy snack or addition to a meal that will give you energy and replenish nutrients after working out at the gym.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Choose the type of protein you want to add to your shake. Soy protein does not dramatically change the taste or texture of your shake, but whey protein makes the shake thick and changes the taste. Whey protein is usually used by people who want to increase the size of their muscles.

  2. Step 2

Choose what ingredients to add to your shake. You can choose any type of fruit, fruit juice, milk or nuts. Peanut butter and almonds have extra protein that will make your shake higher in protein. You should choose one liquid and at least two types of fruit to make a fruit shake. You can use frozen or fresh fruit.

  3. Step 3

Add your ingredients to your blender. You can add the liquid, fruit or nuts, and one or two scoops of protein powder all at once. Add one scoop of ice. Use about one cup of liquid in your shake, but you can add more or less if you like your shake to be extra thick or thin.

  4. Step 4

Blend the mixture until it is fully blended and free of chunks, and pour it into a glass.
