How Can I Remove the Odor from a Violin Case?
A violin case can protect your instrument and come in handy when you wish to transport that instrument. Odors from the strings on the violin as well as varnish on the instrument can transfer to the inside of the violin case. In time, the inside of the case can begin to smell downright terrible. Fortunately, removing odor from a violin case is something that takes little effort on your part.
Instructions

1
Remove the violin from the case.
-
2
Make sure that the entire inside of the violin case is completely dry. You can leave the case open for a day or two or use a dry towel to wipe the inside of the case.

3
Place an odor absorber in the violin case. Carbon odor absorbers are used to remove odors from enclosed objects such as refrigerators or instrument cases. You can also save money by placing a small, open box of baking soda into the violin case, although this may not work as well as carbon odor absorbers depending on the strength of the odor inside the violin case.
-
4
Close the violin case. Fasten each lock/zipper so that the case is completely closed and air tight.
-
5
Allow the odor absorber to remain inside the closed violin case for 48 hours. Then, check the inside of the case. If any odors remain, repeat the process using a new odor absorber or box of baking soda.
