Captain Jack Sparrow is always looking for the Black Pearl in the high seas. The main character of the beloved movies serious Pirates of the Caribbean, this character is a wonderful Halloween treat! People will recognize you and you can have fun being a pirate for the evening. That being said, there is no solid formula for a Jack Sparrow Costume. The basic elements for the costume and improvise from there.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Starting with the face, you need to highlight two parts of your features. The first is your eyes. Using a black eyeliner pencil, trace around your eyes and smear. This will give the dark appearance Jack Sparrow has with his eyes.
Facial hair is another part of Captain Jack Sparrows' appearance. A trimmed beard and mustache makes the face complete. This can be purchased at the local costume store OR can be grown to look authentic.
If you find yourself going completely authentic, you can get an earring to complete your face and look like a captain.

  2. Step 2

Now you need to deal with your hair. Jack Sparrows hair is long, dreadlock and messy. A wig may be needed if you don't have longer hair, or you may just prefer to throw on your Jack Sparrow Pirate Hat (see below) and not worry. One thing in Jack's hair is several beaded strands. Full of color and very noticeable by the front of the face, you need to make your own. This can be done cheaply by visiting a local craft store and buying colorful beads to string and attach to the top of your hair.

  3. Step 3

The Captain Jack Sparrow Hat is the step of the costume that is absolutely necessary. A traditional pirate hat with the attached dreadlocks can be purchased at a local costume store or a Disney store. This hat, while looking beat up and perhaps dingy is what makes the Halloween Costume appear real.

  4. Step 4

Now the top of your Captain Jack Costume is two pieces. The first needs to be a light colored shirt too big for your size (white or cream is best) that allows the sleeves to be fluffy. A long sleeve shirt, with cuffs rolled is the most authentic Jack Sparrow look, but you can adjust to make sure you are comfortable.
After you have your shirt, you need a vest. Solid Red Black or Brown are the best choices. Pockets (for your accessories - see below) would be a great choice, but not necessary.

  5. Step 5

Solid Black or brown pants are a simple bottom for your Captain Jack Halloween Costume. If you decide to put on the Sparrow Overcoat or have the accessories, this part of the costume isn't important as it doesn't highlight anything of importance.

  6. Step 6

Accessories for the Captain Jack Sparrow Costume is very important. People who have seen the movie will need to relate to your Halloween Costume, just in case they aren't sure who you are. Here are some suggestions:
An extra large key for the chest of treasure (on a string to put around your neck.)
A flask (for the fake rum you will be carrying.)
    A fake Sword or knife
    A compass
    Some sort of treasure
    A Treasure map
    A Periscope

  7. Step 7

Boots is the last piece to make the costume complete. Check your closet to see if you can find a dark black or brown pair. The pictures of Jack Sparrow as well as in the movie usually have mid to high tops that are relaxed, but they always make noise when walking.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pieces for the Captain Jack Sparrow costume can be found in your closet or at the thrift store to stay on budget but still look like you just arrived from Port.
