1. Start out by deciding where you would like to take your GED test. There are many different schools in every state that allow you to take the GED test. Once you have decided where you would like to take your GED test, go there and get some information. You will need to know what the GED will cost, if you meet the requirements for the GED test, what paperwork or identification will be required and if that particular school offers any help for your GED test.

2. Make sure that you have everything you need and are eligible for the GED test. Once you have everything ready, you will need to study for your GED test. There are many different ways that you can study for your GED test. You can purchase books at schools, online or at book stores that are specifically for the GED test or you can check some out at your local library. Study until you feel comfortable with all of the material in the GED books because most of the information in the books will be on the exam.

3. Take GED classes if your school offers them and if you feel like you need them. Many schools offer orientation classes when signing up for your GED test that will test your academic level and place you in classes accordingly. Taking classes before you take your GED exam will greatly increase your chances of passing the first time you take your GED test.

4. Once you are comfortable with all of the material that will be covered in the GED exam, schedule a date to take your test. Once you have scheduled your test date, get everything together that you need and go in to take your GED test. If you do not pass your GED exam the first try, you can always study more and go back later to take the exam again.
