Step 1
First, ask your child to let you know any cyberbullying they encountered as soon as possible, and tell them never respond to cyberbullying online.
-
Step 2
Second, as an adult, help the child to identify the bully to address the problem head-on. Your Internet service provider may be able to help track anonymous cyberbullies if it is too malicious. Once identified the bully, collect evidence and talk to the bully's parents and get their involvement to stop the cyberbullying.
-
Step 3
Third, contact your Internet service provider to see if it is possible to block future texts or emails from known cyberbullies. If the bullying behavior gets really malicious or has threats of violence, extortion, child pornography, or hate crime, contact the police immediately.
